The Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program (WCPP) is a competitive grant program with the goal of reducing Wildlife Vehicle Collisions (WVCs) while improving habitat connectivity for terrestrial and aquatic species. See https://highways.dot.gov/federal-lands/wildlife-crossings for more information.
Fiscal Year 2024- 2025 Application Process
FHWA issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) making up to $125 million from Fiscal Year 2024 and 2025 funding available for WCPP. The NOFO was posted on June 6, 2024 and the FY24-25 application period closed on September4, 2024 as Funding Opportunity Number: 693JJ324NF00023 on grants.gov. The FY26 application period will open on May 1, 2025 and close on August 1, 2025 under the same NOFO and Opportunity Number.
FHWA received 61 applications from applicants in 28 States requesting $585 million in WCPP funds. This represents more than four times the amount available in the second round of funding, and over one and a half times the amount available for the program over the life of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

On December 20, 2024, FHWA announced $125 million in grants for 16 wildlife crossing projects in 16 states, including one Indian Tribe.
