Description

FLMA partners regularly use concrete for improvements at FLMA managed lands, such as sidewalks, curb, and ADA ramps. Federal agencies aim to lower construction costs by reducing, or replacing, the use of Portland cement and optimizing aggregate blending. This research will assess strategies for resource constrained rural areas and their feasibility by identifying 2 to 3 concrete pilot section locations at the Presidio. Researchers will observe the construction, note challenges, and monitor initial performance. Findings will help FLMA partners navigate industry efforts to use a different blend of concrete.
