Description
This project collected high-quality trail condition data in an efficient and cost-effective manner using equipment mounted on a bicycle. The data was processed and used to construct GIS-based trail condition analyses that help guide trail maintenance and project prioritization decisions. This project builds on related research by creating a fully integrated geodatabase that features a high-resolution accelerometer, photographic, and annotative trail condition data. This research is transferable to any agency or organization that manages multi-purpose trails, and the project team has demonstrated this transferability by conducting analysis on trails administered by local partners of the National Park Service.
