Pg 5-6: Case Studies in Realizing Co-Benefits of Multimodal Roadway Design and Gray and Green Infrastructure
This case study focuses on Johnson Street in Chattanooga, TN, which after a mandated sewer and stormwater infrastructure refurbishment requires all developments within the sewer system to reduce or detain stormwater runoff during rain events. Permeable pavers (a 'green' solution) were implemented to transfer Johnson Street into a ped/bike-friendly green street that addressed flooding risks and the City's stormwater mandate.
