HSIP Notice of Proposed Rulemaking - Outreach Flyer

The Highway Safety Improvement Program and Safety Transportation Performance Management Notice of Proposed Rulemakings are now available in the Federal Register at www.federalregister.gov. A summary of the proposed key provisions and other useful information for each NPRM is provided below.

  • Number of serious injuries and fatalities
Proposed Key Provisions

Clarify other MAP-21 provisions for:

  • Non-infrastructure projects
  • Relationship to Safety TPM
 States and MPOs must set targets for each of the measures for all public roads and report on progress

Establish requirements for:

  • SHSP Update Cycle
  • Inventory of Model Roadway Elements
  • HSIP Report Content & Schedule

FHWA must assess whether State has met or made significant progress toward meeting targets
