Street design principles are laid out, starting with general principles for all streets, and then laying out principles for a variety of street types, from downtown streets, main streets, neighborhood streets, boulevards, residential streets, alleys, and shared streets. For each street type, the guidebook describes the "existing conditions" of typical current designs, and then lays out sets of recommendations to upgrade to a high quality design.
