How-To Guides
How to Become an NHI Instructor
FHWA employees interested in becoming NHI instructors must complete a nomination form and submit it with a current resume to NHIInstructorLiaison@dot.gov. Be sure to obtain approval from your first-line supervisor. Applicants are evaluated for technical competence and subject matter expertise.
Note: Individuals not employed by FHWA must be part of a contracting firm with a current delivery task order to be considered for an NHI Instructor role. The delivery contract Project Manager will notify the NHI Instructor Liaison and/or the Technical Program Manager of your interest in becoming an instructor and seek approval.
How to Obtain NHI Instructor Certification
NHI’s Instructor Certification Program ensures instructors possess the skills and techniques needed to deliver high-quality training. Once selected, instructors have one year to complete certification.
