Advanced Work Zone Management and Design (2-day) (FHWA-NHI-133149) – Instructor-Led Training
This advanced-level course provides a focused overview of safety and design practices. Participants will learn to analyze safety/mobility impacts, develop effective traffic control plans, and apply management strategies to support efficient work zone operations.

This training is provided at no cost to State Departments of Transportation, Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), and Tribal Technical Assistance Program (TTAP) Centers. Eligible organizations can host one free session of this advanced 2-day training thanks to FHWA’s nationwide investment of $500,000.

Instructor Development Course (FHWA-NHI-420018) – Instructor-Led Training
The redesigned Instructor Development Course (IDC) updates current, and prepares prospective, National Highway Institute instructors to deliver effective, learner-centered training using pre-developed instructional materials. Focused on Adult Learning Principles, the course builds the instructional competencies necessary to meet the various needs of adult learners in professional training environments.
Course participants will develop and demonstrate core training competencies through applied practice, culminating in the delivery of a 15-minute instructional segment that integrates key adult learning strategies. Designed for instructors facilitating in-person Instructor-Led Training (ILT), this course equips instructors with proven, evidence-based tools that boost training efficiency, enhance lesson effectiveness, and ensure real-world applicability in instruction.
