The FHWA maintains a Rumble Strips and Rumble Stripes website, which is accessible at https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/safety/rwd/keep-vehicles-road/rumble-strips. The website contains resources on safety; design and construction; accommodating all users; mitigating noise; pavement and maintenance; and policies, guidance, and research. The website also contains implementation fact sheets for designers and implementation guides for technical specialists focusing on noise, pavements, and bicycle accommodation. The FHWA also has technical advisories on Rumble Strips for Shoulder and Edge Line Rumble Strips (T 5040.39, Revision 1) and Center Line Rumble Strips (T 5040.040, Revision 1).
