Description:

The purpose of the document is to provide transportation agencies and RSA teams with a tool to more completely and consistently diagnose wrong way driving safety issues when conducting an RSA. This document is an extension of the general prompt lists in the FHWA Road Safety Audit Guidelines, and is not intended to address every possible situation or all conditions. The prompt list presents questions related to the following topics:

  • Scope of project, function, traffic mix, and road users.
  • Design.
  • Signs and markings.
  • Time of day conditions.
  • Seasonal and temporary conditions.
