This guide presents an evaluation of road safety audit (RSA) programs and projects at various agency levels, including six States, two counties, and one regional transportation planning organization. Each agency had a different focus for the RSA program, and all resulted in successful efforts. The guide identifies noteworthy RSA programs and practices, identifies key factors of successful RSA programs, and evaluate the safety effectiveness of example improvement projects developed as a result of RSA suggestions. Users will also be able to use this guide to help implement RSA programs, identify characteristics of good candidate locations for RSAs, and improve RSA programs and future RSAs.
