Performance measures for data systems help to assess data quality and establish goals for data improvement. This report covers the development of performance measures for roadway inventory data, provides a detailed review of each of the measures proposed for roadway data, and provides suggested modifications and possible additions to the original list. The measurement of data quality through the use of performance measures is of little value without follow-up efforts to correct problems identified. As such, the report provides suggestions for data-related business practices that can lead to the successful use of performance measures and to improvements in roadway data. This report may also be applicable for understanding the quality and needs of data for data analysis such as network screening, diagnosis, and countermeasure selection.
