The Art of Regression Modeling in Road Safety is a book that explains how to use regression models and commonly available data for evidence-based road safety management and research. The book explains how to fit a multivariable statistical model to cross-sectional safety data using a simple spreadsheet. It also promotes the understanding that is at the core of good modeling. It covers the key topics in road safety analysis: safety performance functions (SPFs), exploratory analysis, curve-fitting, choosing functional forms, assessing the goodness of fit, using CURE plots, and choosing and adding variables to the model. The book also provides sample problems with solutions and equips readers with knowledge to perform related analyses using an Excel spreadsheet with Solver.
