This guide is intended for project managers who oversee the evaluation of traffic safety programs. It describes the benefits of evaluation and provides an overview of the steps involved. The guide includes case examples to illustrate the described concepts and discusses what to look for when hiring a professional evaluator for large or complex evaluations. Specifically, it covers what type of evaluation is reasonable for different programs, how to maximize the success an evaluation, and where to go for help. The guide also includes a glossary of basic evaluation terms and a resources section. The resources section is divided into two sub-sections, 1) Program and Countermeasure Selection Guides, and 2) Detailed Evaluation Guides.
