This information guide examines potential means to improve the availability and quality of data relating to drugged driving (i.e., driving with detectable amount of illegal or potentially impairing medications) and drug-impaired driving (i.e., driving while impaired by drugs other than, or in addition to, alcohol). Expanded data in this area could support legislative and enforcement efforts surrounding drugged driving and enhance the state of knowledge relating drug presence and crash risk. The guide presents data improvement strategies generated from a literature synthesis as well as prioritized recommendations from an expert panel. Each strategy includes a priority ranking, relative difficulty to implement, and relative magnitude of improvement.
