User Guide

pbcat

A first step in using the PBCAT 3 tool is reviewing the User Guide. The User Guide provides further information on:

  • Introduction to benefits, main features, and uses of PBCAT as well as information on the development and rationale of the tool.
  • Getting started, entering, saving, and managing the data.
  • Crash typing logic framework, and variables generated using PBCAT.
  • Mapping to existing or prior crash variables (including from earlier versions of PBCAT).
  • Analysis notes.

The User Guide provides more detail on features and use of the crash typing tool, data protections, and data management. The User Guide also provides detailed documentation for crash typing logic framework and flow, and the variables and categories generated by the system. This information can help users understand the variables that can be developed using PBCAT 3, and how these can best be used to improve upon or complement existing data available from other sources. The User Guide also provides tips for data analysis, and other considerations for using the PBCAT-derived variables.
