Project Description:

Project TN NP GRSM 10N(3), 19(1), 107(1) is located in Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GRSM) in Swain County, NC and Sevier County, TN. This project addresses road and bridge deficiencies at the following locations:

• Newfound Gap Road North from MP 0.0 to MP 1.86 in Sevier County, Tennessee.  This section begins at the Park boundary in Gatlinburg and ends approximately 500 feet after the intersection with Fighting Creek Gap Road. This section of Newfound Gap Road provides access to the Sugarlands Visitor Center and the Park Headquarters. Work includes asphalt mill and overlay, crack cleaning and sealing, full depth patching, drainage and safety improvements, bridge maintenance repairs, and other miscellaneous work.
• Heintooga Ridge Road and Balsam Mountain Campground Roads in Swain County, North Carolina begins at the Park boundary at Black Camp Gap (Blue Ridge Parkway boundary) and ends at the Heintooga Overlook and Picnic Area. The roadway also provides access to Balsam Mountain Campground. Work includes Pavement Preservation of 5.34 miles Heintooga Ridge Rd, 0.41 miles of Balsam Mountain Campground Roads, parking areas, and pull-offs, crack cleaning and sealing, full depth patching, drainage and safety improvements, bridge maintenance repairs and other miscellaneous work.
• Lakeview Drive East in Swain County, North Carolina begins at the Park boundary near Bryson City and ends at the eastern end of Lakeshore Trail. The roadway offers scenic views of Fontana Lake and provides access to several trailheads along its length. Work includes rehabilitation of 5.89 miles of Lakeview Road East, including full depth reconstruction, crack cleaning and sealing, drainage and safety improvements, and other miscellaneous work. In addition, this project will include the following work at Noland Creek Bridge:  concrete overlay on the bridge deck, clean and paint bearings, repair erosion at abutments, replace expansion joints, and repoint stone masonry wingwalls.
