Ulm Bridge Replacement
Project Description:
The subject bridge is located 12 miles southwest of Great Falls, Montana, and 1 mile southwest of Ulm, Montana. It crosses Muddy Creek Slough and is located on Old U.S. 91 (aka the Ulm Frontage Road) in Cascade County. Old U.S. 91 is functionally classified as a State Secondary Route and is a Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) facility.
The proposed project will either rehabilitate or replace the existing single-span, two-lane bridge with a new bridge to meet current standards. The new bridge will remain on the current alignment. A rehabilitation option will be analyzed. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is intending to complete the design and NEPA documentation for the project. The Partner Agencies consists of FHWA, United States Air Force (USAF) Base at Malmstrom, and Cascade County. The Montana Department of Transportation is a reviewing authority, since the existing bridge is on a State Secondary Route.
