The Coatings and Corrosion Laboratory (CCL) conducts research to advance the application of, and develop solutions for, corrosion prevention and mitigation for highway infrastructure.
The Chemistry Laboratory conducts fundamental studies of highway materials to understand both failure mechanisms and superior performance. New standard test methods are developed to improve and facilitate the chemical analysis of highway materials and to characterize and quantify new or alternative sustainable materials.

The Aggregate and Petrographic Laboratory (APL) at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) provides facilities for the evaluation, preparation, and testing of aggregate sources, products, and samples for use in concrete, asphalt mi
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Research, Technology, and Development publishes research results in a variety of formats.
The expertise of our scientists, engineers, and support staff encompasses more than 100 transportation-related disciplines and expertise areas. The laboratories housed at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (TFHRC) provide a vital resource for advancing the body of knowledge to help address national transportation goals. The Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA's) Exploratory Advanced Research Program is also managed from the TFHRC research facility as well.
The TFHRC contains 15 laboratories, support facilities, and data sets. Check out our laboratories at Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center.
