Project Description

The project proposes modifications to the Lee Avenue Gate entrance roadways from Virginia Route 36 (Oakland Boulevard) into US Army Garrison Fort Lee. The project is located in Petersburg, Prince George County, Virginia. Roadway improvements are intended to address safety and congestion issues at the existing gate. Acceleration and deceleration lanes into and out of Fort Lee from/to Route 36 will be extended. This undertaking includes realignment and lengthening the Washington Avenue northbound Fort Lee entrance lane to create more lane capacity, removing a section of the existing northbound entrance lane and a short extension of the northbound Fort Lee exit lane along Washington Avenue.
