Joint Base Myers Henderson Hall Hatfield, Gate Project

The purpose of Joint Base Myers Henderson Hall Hatfield Gate Project is to develop and evaluate operational improvements at the Washington Boulevard and 2nd Street interchange, including the at-grade intersection of 2nd Street at S. Courthouse Road, and operations at Hatfield Gate. The project involves adding an additional lane with shoulder on WB Washington Boulevard exit ramp to the gate for commercial trucks, and adding a second lane to the existing on ramp to WB Washington Boulevard from the Gate, and extending the on-ramp acceleration lane length and taper for improving safety for outbound traffic merging onto Washington Boulevard. Additional improvements include the evaluation of, and improvements to the existing 2nd Street Bridge lane striping configuration, markings, signal timings, and the improvement of traffic congestion and safety of pedestrian walkways at crossings and at the intersection with the ramps.

The U.S. Department of Defense, Army has partnered with Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division (EFLHD) to deliver seven projects under the Defense Access Road Program.  The list of projects can be found here:
