The objective of the project is to reduce the occurrence of the queuing of left-turning vehicles into the main thru lane of Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286) southbound, at the Fairfax County Parkway intersection with Kingman Road. The scope of the project includes adding one additional left turning lane along Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286) southbound to the existing two left turning lanes to Kingman Road. This third left turn will require an additional receiving lane on Kingman Road. Additional improvements include review and redesign of the signal at this intersection to address the addition of the left turning lane and receiving lane, as well as reestablishing the existing asphalt trail that will be impacted by the additional receiving lane.
