Abstract:

This abstract contains the ways in which traffic agencies are looking for ways to address the rise in pedestrian fatalities. One traffic control treatment gaining in popularity is the pedestrian-crossing or school-crossing warning sign with light-emitting diodes (LEDs) embedded in its borders (called LED-Em in this report). Researchers employed a staged pedestrian-crossing approach in this study to obtain a sufficient sample of pedestrian-crossing observations.
