Abstract:

Is Long-Term Pavement Program (LTPP) still important today? Traffic volume has increased 68 percent between 1980 and 1997. Capacity due to new roads has only grown 4 percent during the same time period. As a Nation, we need to understand how to build more long-lived and cost-effective roads to meet this rapidly growing demand.
