Material Properties of Prebagged Grouts for Prefabricated Bridge Element and System Connections

Project Information

Project ID:
FHWA-PROJ-10-0031
Project Abstract:

This project will look into the development and testing of optimal connection details for use in facilitating the use of modular prefabricated concrete components in bridge construction. This project steps toward that goal by providing a baseline set of data on commercially available grouts, some of which are already used for prefabricated bridge elements and systems (PBES) connections.

Goals:

The key project objective is to evaluate the critical mechanical properties of prebagged grout materials, which may be used in field-cast applications connecting PBES components. This research will provide a baseline from which future grout performance expectations can be developed.
