Historic American Engineering Record Book on Covered Bridges
Project Information
The American public continues to have an appreciation for covered bridges, and seeks out books and artifacts that focus on or commemorate these icons. This proposed volume would be the first book written for the informed lay person. The book will include historical information, measured drawings, and photographs of a select number of covered bridges. It would contain contextual and construction history based on writing and research completed for Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) documentation, the traveling exhibition, and the National Historic Landmark theme study. It would be generously illustrated with Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) drawings and photographs.
Goals
The purpose of this project is to publish a book with detailed information, illustrations, photographs, and Historic American Engineering Record technical drawings documenting historic covered bridges nationwide.
