Development of a Family of Ultra-High Performance Concrete Pi-Girders
Project Information
This project looks to engage the recently developed ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) material model to facilitate computational model-based development of a family of structurally optimized prestressed concrete bridge girders. Prior structural testing of a novel UHPC Pi-girder combined with prior computational modeling form the basis for the study will be used. Decked girders spanning up to 135 feet will be developed.
Goals
The key project objective is to develop a set of prestressed girders that engage the advanced mechanical and durability properties of UHPC for the purpose of facilitating the rapid construction of robust bridge systems.
