Develop Reliable Analysis Methodology and Tools for Evaluating Pavement Performance Under Movement of Superloads

Project Information

Project ID:
FHWA-PROJ-12-0015
Project Abstract:

Traditional pavement analysis methods are intended for repeated loading and accumulated fatigue damage based primarily on strain response. However, permit request for one-time movement of superload and analysis should ideally be based on strength analysis and risk of instantaneous failure. Analysis methods and tools will be developed to conduct factor of safety analysis based on load demand and strength of pavement and subsurface materials.

Goals

Develop analysis methods and tools to conduct factor of safety analysis based on load demand and strength of pavement and subsurface materials.
