WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Administrator Sean McMaster announced today that the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) is halting all work on the 34th Street busway project following the agency’s request for the pause. This is the second notice the federal agency has given NYCDOT, including an initial letter that highlighted several concerns with the project blueprints, including the absence of plans to accommodate truckers that rely on access to routes impacted by the project.

On September 26, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Federal Highway Administrator Sean McMaster traveled to Western North Carolina to mark remarkable progress one year after Hurricane Helene devastated the region. McMaster joined Governor Josh Stein, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), and the U.S. Forest Service to celebrate major repair milestones along I-40, where critical infrastructure has been restored following widespread storm damage and closures.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy today announced that the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will receive $1.15 billion in additional Emergency Relief funding for Hurricane Helene repairs. This is the largest single allocation under the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief (ER) Program for a state in the Department’s history. With today’s announcement, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has provided a total of nearly $2 billion in ER funding for North Carolina Hurricane Helene repairs.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Transportation Sean P. Duffy today announced $175 million in funding under the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Ferry Boat Program (FBP) to 35 states, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa. The formula funding will improve ferry service and provide more cost-effective travel options for communities across the country that rely on ferries to get to work, promote tourism, and enable commerce.
