Technology Transfer Overview

Technology Transfer (T2) and Innovation Management Overview

The Federal Highway Administration has the organizational capacity to advance innovation through two primary methods – the identification and development of innovative technologies and practices, and the implementation of innovation at the Federal, State, and local levels.

T2 is a set of activities required of all Federal departments by Congress.

Engaging stakeholders effectively increases capacity for research results to create economic and societal benefits and positive impacts.

T2 has the following objectives:

  • Achieve greater success in T2, transition, and commercialization of research products of the Office of Research and Technology (HRT).
  • Change the paradigm of HRT’s outreach efforts and build partners and collaborators for research.
  • Increase the number of invention disclosures.
  • Prepare the research product for implementation.
