Publication Information

Publication Type:
TechBrief
Publication Number:
FHWA-HRT-23-076
Abstract:

This TechBrief is part 1 of a two-part series (part 2 is Next-Generation Transportation Asset Management Methodology (NGPPMs) (FHWA-HRT-23-075)), and summarizes the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) report Development of NGPPMs to support Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) Performance Management Objectives (FHWA-HRT-23-102). In addition, it summarizes key findings from the research efforts to validate the NGPPMs and provides insights on how they can be used to support agencies’ decisionmaking processes. A separate TechBrief documents the validation of the proposed transportation asset management methodologies (TAMM) as an approach to support cross-asset decisionmaking (Thompson et al. 2023).
