Rapid Characterization of Alkali-Silica Reactivity in Concrete
Project Information
This project will use Raman spectroscopy to develop a rapid method to identify alkali-silica reaction (ASR) gels in concrete.
Goals
The key project objective is to develop a rapid method to identify the presence of ASR gels in concrete. No reliable test exists to detect the presence of ASR gels in existing structures. If the research is successful, Raman spectroscopy is a very suitable and easy technique for field use.
