Infrastructure-Based Motorcycle Crash Countermeasures
Project Information
This activity provides for examination and analysis of the Motorcycle Crash Causation Database (MCCS) and insights into its application for determining implementable infrastructure-based countermeasures to reduce motorcycle crashes on our nation's highways. Continuation of this activity may consist of evaluation and field testing of three to five countermeasures based on initial results. This activity and its continuation will ultimately lead to deployment of countermeasures to decrease motorcycle crashes at the State and local levels. These efforts will be coordinated with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to ensure that the appropriate vehicle and behavioral aspects are properly accounted for as well.
