Project Abstract:
The objective of this project is to use simulation technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to assess the effectiveness and the benefits of using AI for traffic management center operations, compared to the conventional methods in two case studies to quantify the improvement on the incident detection time and false alarm rates on a section of freeway in the first case study, and to quantify the improvement on demand prediction and congestion (queue length, delay hours, bottleneck, and so on) prediction on freeway in the second case study.
