Development of Crash Modification Factors (CMFs) for Different Separated Bike Lane (SBL) Configurations

Project Information

Project ID:
FHWA-PROJ-17-0008
Project Abstract:

The goal of this study is to determine the influence that different separated bike lanes (SBLs) have on the total number and severity level of crashes. The objective of this study is to quantify how the various SBL configurations influence the number and type of crashes along a corridor both at the midblock and at intersections. Phase I of the study will evaluate the feasibility and requirements for developing crash modification factors (CMFs) for intersection-related crashes separately from crashes that occur at midblock locations. Phase II will then focus specifically on developing CMFs for midblock SBL locations.
