Assessment of Data Sources for Serious and Fatal Injuries Sustained by First Responders and Other Road Workers
Project Information
The contractor shall develop the magnitude and scope of serious and fatal injuries sustained by first responders and other road workers. This task shall be accomplished by reviewing extant data sources provided by FHWA and/or sources known to the contractor and included in the technical proposal. The contractor shall analyze available data and identify sources of injury and concomitant factors, as well as gaps in the extant data sources.
The current exercise shall serve as a proof of concept to extend the work reported in FHWA-HRT-17- 079, “Understanding the Causative, Precipitating, and Predisposing Factors in Rural Two-Lane Crashes, Reliant upon Disparate Data Sources to Enhance Traditional Coded Sources.”
This task order is to develop a proof of concept for reliably identifying struck by injuries and fatalities by compiling, assessing, and analyzing available data sources, assessing gaps in the data, and conducting a stakeholder workshop to assess the template.
