Project Information

Project ID:
FHWA-PROJ-13-0076
Project Abstract:

Explore the technical feasibility of truck platooning through cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) concepts. Research questions: Performance achievable with truck CACC in mixed traffic? Driver preferences for CACC timegaps? Energy savings at preferred timegaps? Benefits in truck lane capacity, energy, and emissions? Public policy: Deployment strategies for truck CACC. Synergy with I-710 truck lane development. Attractiveness to public and officials.
