Opportunities to Get Involved

There are many opportunities to get involved in highway research and finding solutions to complex transportation problems, and helping get the word out to transportation organizations across the Nation about using those new technologies and innovations.

For students it starts with education, and with grant and fellowship programs. From there, it leads to an exciting career encompassing more than 100 transportation-related disciplines including civil, structural, and pavement engineering; chemistry; safety; mathematics; computational development; modeling and simulation; information technology; hydraulics; aerodynamics; imaging; geometric design; photometry; visibility; human factors, and other nontechnical career opportunities such as communications, marketing, human resources, administration, finance, program management, and contract management.

To get you started, browse through the transportation and engineering careers videos listed in the next section. The Academic Grants, Fellowships, and Internships section contains links to college and post college opportunities in the transportation.
