Project Details

Project Description: 

This project developed and refined an optimized component that combined the bridge superstructure and deck into a single modular element. This prestressed Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) component meets all load requirements in the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Load and Resistance Factor Design Bridge Design Specification. It facilitates accelerated construction by allowing for the construction of a bridge that is almost entirely prefabricated.

Goals

The key project objective is to develop a modular bridge girder component that engages the unique strength and durability properties of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) to address pressing needs in the highway structure arena.
