Brian R. Bezio
Brian Bezio has served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) since October 2015. He is responsible for the formulation, execution, and financial management of the agency's $71 billion annual budget, financial systems and operations, the agency's internal controls program, coordination of Government Accountability Office and Office Inspector General audits, and strategic direction of FHWA’s nationwide acquisition program, which totals $2.2 billion annually in contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, and interagency agreements. He provides executive guidance to more than 250 finance and acquisition staff in Headquarters, Federal-aid and Federal Lands field offices, and the Resource Center.
Prior to becoming the CFO, Mr. Bezio served as FHWA’s Deputy CFO from 2011-2015 and Budget Director from 2009-2011. He joined FHWA in 2009 after serving for two years as the Deputy Chief of Financial Management for the Federal Air Marshal Service.
In 2007, Commander Bezio retired from the Coast Guard after a 20-year career. Following a series of operational assignments, Mr. Bezio served as a Coast Guard detailee to the DOT Budget Office from 2001-2003, Chief of Coast Guard Internal Controls from 2003-2005 and Chief of Coast Guard Budget Execution from 2005-2007.
Brian received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and a Master of Public Administration from the George Washington University.
