Beartooth Highway (US 212)

Project Description

The project reconstructed approximately 2.32 miles of Segment 4 of U.S. 212, Beartooth Highway and improved roadway alignment, grade, and 32-feet width. This project started at the Top of the World Store to the Island Lake Campground Approach Road and to the newly constructed HPP 4-1(7) portion of the road west of the Long Lake Outlet Bridge at KP 49.33 (mile post 30.6). The project also included removing and replacing an existing bridge, and construction of a new bridge with a width of 36 feet.

In addition, this project covered improvements to the West Summit Site on the highway east of the roadway improvement project at Beartooth Pass to include grading and installation of aggregate base to the entrance road and parking area.

Update 1/24/22 

Project will resume construction in the Spring 2022 and construction will end in Fall 2022. .
