Beaver Dam Gap Road and Mullins Road Landslide and Road Repairs

Beaver Dam Gap Road (Route 621) - GIS Location: 36.890181, -82.630391: In the spring of 2017, the forest was impacted by a severe rain event that caused roadway damage that included roadway surface washouts, slope stability failures, roadway rutting, and culvert and outfall protection damage. Project length is approximately 3.38 miles. The existing gravel road accommodates one-lane, two-way traffic. The repairs will include culvert replacements, gabion wall construction, placement of riprap to stabilize shoulder washouts, roadbed reconditioning, placement of gravel to repair roadway washouts, ditch reconditioning, and other miscellaneous work.

Mullins Road (Route 616)- GIS Location: 37.213708, -82.475116: Heavy rainfall and melting snow in mid-February 2018 caused damage to roads, trails, and drainage structures. Project length is approximately 1.49 miles. The existing gravel road accommodates one-lane, two-way traffic. Work will include roadway reconditioning, resurfacing with gravel, culvert replacements, riprap, and other miscellaneous work.
