Saddle Road East Side

Project Overview

The Central Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration in cooperation with the Hawaii Department of Transportation is developing a project to reconstruct the 5.7 mile section of the Daniel K. Inouye Highway (formerly Saddle Road) between mileposts 5.3 and 11. This is the final phase to reconstruct the east side of the Saddle Road. The project will follow the existing horizontal alignment from milepost 11 to 8.5, then, diverges southward from the existing road until connecting up with the Puainako Street Extension at approximately milepost 5.3. The roadway width will be upgraded to two 12-foot travel lanes with 8-foot shoulders and also include a climbing lane for most of the length of the project.

HDOT has partnered with the USDOT Central Federal Lands Highways Division (CFLHD) to deliver bridge and other highway improvement projects throughout the islands.
