The Willow Beach Road project begins near the newly constructed entrance station and consists of a roadway realignment to the Marina located north of the existing roadway. Willow Beach Road is located within Mohave County in northwestern Arizona and within Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The project consists of rehabilitating a small portion of the existing road and an overall realignment to locate the roadway out of the washes. Work will include the new roadway construction and drainage improvements.
The purpose of the project is to repair the badly deteriorated roadway, minimize life cycle costs related to frequent flood damage, and improve safety for the traveling public. Realignment of the road and excavation of a wash diversion channel are included in the project scope, with the intent to reduce hazards associated with flash flooding in a segment of roadway passing through a narrow canyon near the Willow Beach developed area.
