Pave Levee Road

This project included paving approximately 2.6 miles of Levee Road with asphalt. The levee was built between 1905 and 1912 and supported railroad activities until the early 1950’s. Various construction activities have occurred throughout the life of the levee including raising, widening, and armoring. Levee road is owned and maintained by Bureau of Reclamation (BOR).

The levee road currently supports public traffic to access a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) boat ramp and recreation site (Paradise Cove) along with a BOR desalting plant, Cocopah tribal land, and agricultural sites adjacent to the levee. The road is also used by United States Border Patrol and Cocopah Law Enforcement.
