Project Details

Project Description: 

Various asphalts will be characterized (elemental analysis, spectroscopic characterization, solvent dissolution) and a model will be developed for predicting the phase behavior of mixes. The second phase of work will separate large quantities of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) and reclaimed asphalt shingle (RAS) binders using ionic liquids.

Goals

Predict phase behavior (compatibility) of asphalts obtained from various sources, including materials extracted from reclaimed asphalt pavement and recycled asphalt shingles.
